I'm a Certified Master Inspector and InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector based in Truckee, California. I've run my own home inspection business, Vista Home Inspection, since 2021, and before that I worked in residential construction.
California doesn't require the National Home Inspector Exam, so when I started growing my business into Nevada, the exam was a new experience for me. I found it challenging, and the practice tests and study materials I tried didn't really help. The real exam is about judgment: reading a situation the way an experienced inspector would, not memorizing definitions.
So I spent the last two years building the practice test I wished I'd had. NHIEPrepPro is a practice test built by a home inspector for future home inspectors.
How the questions are written
- Every question is weighted to the official exam outline: 70% Property Inspection, 20% Analysis & Reporting, 10% Professional Responsibilities.
- Questions are scenario-based, the way the real exam is: what you'd observe, report or recommend in the field.
- Every answer has a full explanation, and many have a memory tip.
- Answer choices are shuffled every attempt so you learn the material, not the letter.
